On December 12, 2011, we received a directive document*1 "Revision of technical specification based on the evaluation results of the facility management plan of TEPCO Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station (Direction)" from the Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.

In accordance with the direction given, we have reorganized Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station and Fukushima Daiichi Stabilization Center in order to achieve the decommissioning of Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station Units 1-4 and stable cooling of Units 5-6. According to this, a request to change the technical specification for the nuclear reactor facility at Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power station*2 has been submitted to the Nuclear Regulation Authority on January 11, 2013 in order to reflect the actual operation at the station to the technical specification.

Provided below is the outline of the changes to be made.

-Change of the provisions related to the organization of Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station and Fukushima Daiichi Stabilization Center upon reorganization implemented in order to achieve the decommissioning of Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station Units 1-4 and stable cooling of Units 5-6.
-Change of technical specification provisions regarding facilities, etc. upon evaluation completion of the report on our facility management plan for Units 1-4 of Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station based on the "Policy on the Mid-term Security" (Version 3).
-Optimization of provisions related to Chapter 12 of the technical specification to reflect the actual operation at Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station and to accommodate the newly established external organizations.

As the evaluation of changes made to the report on our facility management plan for Units 1-4 of Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station based on the "Policy on the Mid-term Security" (Version 2) (Revision 2) by the Nuclear Regulation Authority has been completed, a revised request to change the technical specification with the provisions changed based on the evaluation results incorporated has been submitted to the Nuclear Regulation Authority today.

*2 Technical specification for the nuclear reactor facility
Government-approved fundamental rules for nuclear power station operators to follow in order to maintain safe operation and stable condition of nuclear power stations (including operation management, fuel management, radiation management, emergency measures and equipment/facility management based on the "Policy on the Mid-term Security"), which are stipulated by Article 37 Section 1 of the Act on the Regulations of Nuclear Source Material, Nuclear Fuel Material and Reactors.
