We, TEPCO, announce that Ohmachi Shinsegi Hydroelectric Power Station in Ohmachi city, Nagano prefecture has started its operation today (Construction started in December 2010).

Ohmachi Shinsegi Hydroelectric Power Station is a conduit type power station with an effective head of approximately 114m, which utilizes a water intake chamber/grit chamber (an improvement of an existing grit chamber) in agricultural waterway "Ohmachi Shinsegi" that supplies water from the Kago river, a branch of the Takase river of the Shinano river system (Class A river). The maximum output is 1,000kW and the annual electricity generation is approximately 6.1 million kWh (equivalent to the sum of annual electricity demand of 1,700 ordinary households). The annual CO2 reduction is estimated to be about 2,100 tons (equivalent to the total annual CO2 emission of 420 ordinary households).

Ohmachi Shinsegi Hydroelectric Power Station is the 164th hydroelectric power station owned by TEPCO, and is the first power station in 81 years that utilizes agricultural water way since Fukuzawa Daiichi Power Station and Fukuzawa Daini Power Station (Owned by Fuji Denryoku K.K.^* when they started operating in March 1931).
