Press Release (Mar 06,2012)
Status of TEPCO's Facilities and its services after the Tohoku-Chihou-Taiheiyou-Oki Earthquake (as of 3:00 pm, March 6)

Due to the Tohoku-Chihou-Taiheiyou-Oki Earthquake which occurred on March
11, 2011, TEPCO's facilities including our nuclear power stations have
been severely damaged. We deeply apologize for the anxiety and
inconvenience caused.
With regard to the accident at Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station, on
April 17, 2011, we have compiled the roadmap towards restoration from the
accident and on July 19 we accomplished the Step1 target "Radiation dose
is in steady decline". Then on December 16 we confirmed the accomplishment
of the Step 2 target "Release of radioactive materials is under control
and radiation doses are being significantly held down".
In addition, on December 21, 2011, we have compiled the "Mid-to-long-Term
Roadmap toward the Decommissioning of Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power
Units 1-4, TEPCO".
In addition to the maintenance of the plant's stable condition, we will
implement Mid-to-Long Term countermeasures towards the decommissioning of
Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Units 1-4 to enable evacuees to return to
their homes as soon as possible and reduce the anxiety of the people in
Fukushima and the whole nation as soon as possible.

Below is the status of TEPCO's major facilities.

* The updates are underlined.
[Nuclear Power Station]
· Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station: Unit 1 to 3: shut down due to
  the earthquake:
(Units 4 to 6: outage due to regular inspections before the earthquake)

* With regard to the thermometer placed at the lower part of RPV (top of
the lower head 135°) whose trend which showed a different trend while
others showed the increasing trend after we decreased the water
injection rate to the Unit 2 Reactor from the feed water system on
February 22, we reported to Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency of
Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry on March 1. We will continue
  monitoring this thermometer.
   · At 11:00 am on March 6, the temperature of the lower part of the RPV
(top of the lower head 135°) : approx. 42.3 °C
   · At 11:00 am on March 6, the temperature of the lower part of the RPV
(top of the lower head 270°) : approx. 40.3 °C (reference)
* At 10:11 am on March 6, 2012, we stopped cooling the common spent fuel
pool due to the restoration of the station common diesel generation (A)
(the temperature of the water in the pool at the time: 18.4 °C). We
restarted cooling at 2:01 pm (the temperature of the water in the pool
  at the time: 19.3 °C).
* From 10:30 am to 2:00 pm on March 6, 2012, we started transfer of
Sub-drain Water of Unit 5 to the temporary tank. Hereafter, we will
conduct transferring to the temporary tank arbitrarily.
* At 1:25 pm on March 6, 2012, the spent fuel pool desalting facility wasv
stopped automatically because of an alert caused by increase of water
level of waste water treatment tank. All Isolation valves of desalting
facilities were closed by the interlock, and the alternative cooling
system continues operation. Therefore, there is no influence on cooling.
In addition, as a result of the on-site confirmation, no leakage of
liquid was confirmed. We are now investigating the reason of this incident.

· Fukushima Daini Nuclear Power Station:
Units 1 to 4: shutdown due to the earthquake

* At 5:32 pm on March 5, we switched residual heat removal system B to
residual heat removal system A. At 5:59 on the same day, the system A
  started to operate.
* At 10:28 am on March 6, for the purpose of determining soundness of
reactor primary containment vessel of unit 2 and internal facilities,
airlock* for the workers was opened and started visual inspection.
        * airlock for the workers hatch to enter into the primary
          containment vessel

·Kashiwazaki Kariwa Nuclear Power Station:
  Units 6: under normal operation
(Units 1 to 5 and 7: outage due to regular inspections)
[Thermal Power Station]
·Power supply has returned to normal and the facilities damaged by the
earthquake are now being handled in a timely manner.
[Hydro Power Station]
·Power supply has returned to normal and the facilities damaged by the
earthquake are now being handled in a timely manner.
[Impacts on Transmission Facilities]
·Power supply has returned to normal and the facilities damaged by the
earthquake are now being handled in a timely manner.
[Impacts on Power Supply and Demand Balance]
We expect to maintain stable power supply in March.
Daily supply and demand balance is announced at our "TEPCO Electricity
Forecast".
