Yamanashi Prefecture
Tokyo Electric Power Company
We, Yamanashi Prefecture (Shomei Yokouchi, Governor) and Tokyo Electric
Power Company (TEPCO) (Toshio Nishizawa, President), would like to
announce the commencement of the operation of Mt. Komekura Solar Power
Plant. In January 2009, we agreed on jointly promoting the mega solar
power project at Mt. Komekura in Kofu-city, Yamanashi Prefecture and have
been constructing it.
Mt. Komekura Solar Power Plant is a mega solar power plant with 10 MW of
maximum output. The plant is expected to generate about 12 million kWh
annually, which is equal to energy consumption of approximately 3,400
households per year. The amount of CO2 emission curtailment is expected
to be approximately 5,400t per year, which is approximately equal to CO2
emission from 1,000 households per year.
We will promote education on solar power generation at the PR facility
"Yume-Solar-Kan Yamanashi," which opened together with the commencement
of the operation and is operated by Yamanashi Prefecture. In addition to
this, we will send out information about Yamanashi Prefecture actions for
environment and next generation energy domestically and internationally.
Yamanashi Prefecture is comprehensively and systematically implementing
global warming initiatives in line with the "Yamanashi Prefecture Action
Plan against Global Warming," formulated in March 2009.
This mega solar plant is central to this plan. Taking advantage of its
regional characteristic, Yamanashi Prefecture will make further efforts
to introduce and promote renewable energy sources, including solar power
generation.
TEPCO will continuously strive for the stable power supply along with
ensuring the operation of Mt. Komekura Solar Power Plant.
