Due to the Tohoku-Chihou-Taiheiyou-Oki Earthquake which occurred on March
11, 2011, TEPCO's facilities including our nuclear power stations have
been severely damaged. We deeply apologize for the anxiety and
inconvenience caused.
With regard to the accident at Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station, on
April 17, we have compiled the roadmap towards restoration from the
accident and then we updated the progress status of roadmap considering
the current situation, on July 19. Accomplishment of the Step1 target
"Radiation dose is in steady decline" has been confirmed. On August 17, we
updated the further progress.
By bringing the reactors and spent fuel pools to a stable cooling
condition and mitigating the release of radioactive materials, we will
make every effort to enable evacuees to return to their homes and for all
citizens to be able to secure a sound life.
Below is the status of TEPCO's major facilities.
*New items are underlined
[Nuclear Power Station]
-Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station:
Units 1 to 3: shutdown due to the earthquake
(Units 4 to 6: outage due to regular inspections)
*From 10:35 am to 1:20 pm on 29th August, we conducted sampling of dust at
open mouth (blow out panel) of reactor building of unit 2.
*At 10:00 am 29th August, we restarted transfer of accumulated water from
underground of turbine building of unit 6 to temporary tanks.
-Fukushima Daini Nuclear Power Station:
Units 1 to 4: shutdown due to the earthquake
*At 10:15 am on 29th August, in order to investigate soundness of reactor
containment vessel and inside facilities, we have opened airlock for site
workers (hatch to enter into the primary containment vessel), and we
started investigation.
*On 29th August, in the heater building of unit 4, condition of a site
worker of co-operating company who was in charge of rerouting of
temporary cable was getting worse, at around 10:50 am, and as heat stroke
was anticipated, we treated drip infusion and at 11:26 am transferred to
J-village by our ambulance. At 11:58 am, patient was transferred to Iwaki
Kyoritu Hospital by ambulance. No radioactive material attached to the
body was found.
-Kashiwazaki Kariwa Nuclear Power Station:
Units 5, 6: under normal operation
(Units 1 to 4 and 7: outage due to regular inspection)
[Thermal Power Station]
-Power supply has returned to normal and facilities damaged by the
earthquake are now being handled in a timely manner.
[Hydro Power Station]
-Power supply has returned to normal and facilities damaged by the
earthquake are now being handled in a timely manner.
[Impacts on Transmission Facilities]
-Power supply has returned to normal and facilities damaged by the
earthquake are now being handled in a timely manner.
[Perspective of Power Supply and Demand Balance in this Summer]
-In August and September, we forecast the maximum supply will be 56.1 GW,
and the peak demand 48.9 GW.
We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause and appreciate for your
cooperation to save electricity.
