The Tokyo Electric Power Co., Inc. (TEPCO) announced that operating
revenues for the fiscal year 2010 (from April 1, 2010 to March 31, 2011)
increased 7.0% from the previous fiscal year to 5,368.5 billion yen (up 7.1% to
5,146.3 billion yen on a non-consolidated basis). Ordinary income was 317.6
billion yen (271.0 billion yen on a non-consolidated basis).
Due to cost and loss of 1,020.4 billion yen (1,017.5 billion yen on a
non-consolidated basis) resulting from restoration costs, etc. of the
properties hit by the Tohoku-Chihou-Taiheiyou-Oki Earthquake, extraordinary
loss of 57.1 billion yen (56.6 billion yen on a non-consolidated basis)
resulting from applying "Accounting Standards for Asset Retirement
Obligations", and income taxes of 478.4 billion yen (449.2 billion yen on
a non-consolidated basis) resulting from reversal of deferred tax assets,
net loss was 1,247.3 billion yen (1,258.5 billion yen on a non-consolidated
basis).
Electricity sales in the fiscal year increased 4.7% from the previous fiscal
year to 293.4 billion kWh due to the increase in air-conditioning demand
caused by the heat wave from June to September compared with the previous
year.
By type of demand, electricity sales for residential use increased by 7.6%
to 103.4 billion kWh, those for low-voltage power increased by 6.9% to 12.2
billion kWh, and those for specified-scale demand increased by 3.0% to 177.8
billion kWh, compared with the previous fiscal year, respectively.
On the revenues side, electricity industry sales revenues increased 6.5%
from the previous fiscal year to 4,796.5 billion yen due to the increase in
electricity sales, and so on. Operating revenues, including electricity
sales to other companies, etc., increased by 7.0% to 5,368.5 billion yen
(up 7.1% to 5,146.3 billion yen on a non-consolidated basis). Ordinary
revenues increased by 7.0% to 5,444.8 billion yen (up 7.2% to 5,203.5
billion yen on a non-consolidated basis).
On the expenses side, ordinary expenses in electricity business increased
5.0% from the previous fiscal year to 5,127.1 billion yen (up 5.1% to
4,932.4 billion yen on a non-consolidated basis) due to the increase in fuel
costs caused by fuel prices hike.
