Due to the Tohoku-Chihou-Taiheiyou-Oki Earthquake which occurred on March
11th 2011, TEPCO's facilities including our nuclear power stations have
been severely damaged. We deeply apologize for the anxiety and
inconvenience caused.
With regard to the accident at Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station, on
April 17th, we have put together the roadmap towards restoration from the
accident. By bringing the reactors and spent fuel pools to a stable
cooling condition and mitigating the release of radioactive materials, we
will make every effort to enable evacuees to return to their homes and for
all citizens to be able to secure a sound life.

Below is the status of TEPCO's major facilities.

[Nuclear Power Station] 
 Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station: 
        Units 1 to 3: shutdown due to the earthquake
        (Units 4 to 6: outage due to regular inspections) 

-Trend monitoring of how the parameters of reactor pressure vessel and 
 primary containment vessel varied when water injection to Unit 1 reactor 
 increased, was completed. Accordingly, water injection to the reactor was 
 changed from approx. 10 m3/h to approx. 6 m3/h. 

-At 10:11 am, amount of water injection to Unit 3 reactor by feed water 
 system piping was increased from approx. 6 m3/h to approx. 9 m3/h. 

-At 10:00 am on May 17th, the transfer of accumulated water in the 
 basement of Unit 6 turbine building to a temporary tank was resumed. 
 At 2:00 pm, on May 17th, transfer pump was stopped (approx. 80m3). 

-On May 17th, we sprayed dust inhibitor to areas including nearby partner 
 companies' yard using the conventional method (approx. 6,550 m2). 

Fukushima Daini Nuclear Power Station: 
      Units 1 to 4: shutdown due to the earthquake 

Kashiwazaki Kariwa Nuclear Power Station: 
       Units 1, 5, 6, 7: normal operation 
       (Units 2 to 4: outage due to regular inspection) 

[Thermal Power Station] 
-Hirono Thermal Power Station Unit 2 and 4: Shutdown due to the earthquake 

[Hydro Power Station] 
-Power supply has returned to normal and facilities damaged by the
 earthquake are now being handled in a timely manner. 

[Impacts on Transmission Facilities] 
-Power supply has returned to normal and facilities damaged by the
 earthquake are now being handled in a timely manner. 

[Avoidance of further Implementation on Planned Rolling Blackouts and 
Request for Conserving Electricity Consumption] 
Currently, we are working to restore electricity supply after our nuclear
and thermal power facilities were severely damaged by
Tohoku-Chihou-Taiheiyou-Oki Earthquake. The widespread understanding and
cooperation of our customers to conserve electricity have contributed to
the improvement of this tight power supply-demand balance situation.
Amidst this backdrop, since the electricity supply will be able to balance
with the demand for the time being, we have decided not to implement
further rolling blackouts in principle.
However, we sincerely ask for your continued cooperation in reducing
electricity consumption due to the possible increase in demand caused by
warmer weather or unexpected trouble at power stations that are currently
being restored to service. In case the electricity supply-demand balance
becomes tighter than expected, we may regrettably need to restart the
implementation of rolling blackouts, with prior notice. We kindly ask for
your cooperation.
We will do our best to maintain this policy of avoiding further
implementation of rolling blackouts during the summer.
