Due to the Tohoku-Chihou-Taiheiyou-Oki Earthquake which occurred on March 
11th 2011, TEPCO's facilities including our nuclear power stations have 
been severely damaged. We deeply apologize for the anxiety and 
inconvenience caused.
With regard to the accident at Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station, on 
April 17th, we have put together the roadmap towards restoration from the 
accident. By bringing the reactors and spent fuel pools to a stable 
cooling condition and mitigating the release of radioactive materials, we 
will make every effort to enable evacuees to return to their homes and for 
all citizens to be able to secure a sound life.
 
Below is the status of TEPCO's major facilities.

[Nuclear Power Station]
Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station: 
       Units 1 to 3: shutdown due to the earthquake
       (Units 4 to 6: outage due to regular inspections) 
 
- From 1:00 pm on May 14th, we started to inject fresh water to the spent 
  fuel pool of unit 2 through Fuel Pool Cooling and Filtering System (from 
  1:08 pm to 2:02 pm, hydrazine was also injected). 
 
- At 10:01 am on May 14th, we increased water injection to the nuclear 
  reactor of Unit 3 through the fire extinction system piping arrangement  
  from at approximately 6 m3/h to 9 m3/h. (water injection thorough the 
  reactor feed water system piping arrangement is maintained at 
  approximately 6 m3/h). 
 
- At 10:00 am on May 14th, we restarted transferring accumulated water on 
  the basement in the turbine building of Unit 6 to the temporary tank. 
 
- On May 14th, we sprayed dust inhibitor to approximately 7,000 m3 areas 
  on the east sides of the turbine building of Units 2, using an unmanned 
  crawler dump truck in order to prevent diffusion of radioactive 
  materials. 
  
- On May 14th, we are spraying dust inhibitor to areas including nearby 
  Solid Waste Storing Facility in a conventional method. 
 
- At about 6:50 AM on May14th, a worker of a sub-contractor became a bad 
  health during a carrying work for drainage treatment system in the 
  Centralized Environment Facility. He was carried to a doctor's room of 
  the power station at 7:03 AM and had medical treatment. Since he had 
  lost his consciousness and stopped self breathing, at 7:35 AM he was 
  carried to a doctor in the J Village and the doctor examined his 
  condition. After that, at 8:35 AM, he was carried to Sogo Iwaki Kyoritsu 
  Hospital. Radioactive substances were not attached to the worker.

Fukushima Daini Nuclear Power Station: 
       Units 1 to 4: shutdown due to the earthquake

Kashiwazaki Kariwa Nuclear Power Station: 
       Units 1, 5, 6, 7: normal operation 
       (Units 2 to 4: outage due to regular inspection)

[Thermal Power Station] 
- Hirono Thermal Power Station Unit 2 and 4: Shutdown due to the 
  earthquake
- Hitachinaka Thermal Power Station Unit 1: Shutdown due to the earthquake

[Hydro Power Station] 
- Power supply has returned to normal and facilities damaged by the 
  earthquake are now being handled in a timely manner.

[Impacts on Transmission Facilities] 
- Power supply has returned to normal and facilities damaged by the 
  earthquake are now being handled in a timely manner.

[Avoidance of further Implementation on Planned Rolling Blackouts and
Request for Conserving Electricity Consumption] 
Currently, we are working to restore electricity supply after our nuclear 
and thermal power facilities were severely damaged by Tohoku-Chihou-
Taiheiyou-Oki Earthquake. The widespread understanding and cooperation of 
our customers to conserve electricity have contributed to the improvement 
of this tight power supply-demand balance situation.
Amidst this backdrop, since the electricity supply will be able to balance 
with the demand for the time being, we have decided not to implement 
further rolling blackouts in principle.
However, we sincerely ask for your continued cooperation in reducing 
electricity consumption due to the possible increase in demand caused by 
warmer weather or unexpected trouble at power stations that are currently 
being restored to service. In case the electricity supply-demand balance 
becomes tighter than expected, we may regrettably need to restart the 
implementation of rolling blackouts, with prior notice. We kindly ask for 
your cooperation.
We will do our best to maintain this policy of avoiding further 
implementation of rolling blackouts during the summer.
