Yamanashi Prefecture (Governor: Shomei Yokouchi) and Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) (President: Naomi Hirose) jointly constructed a mega solar power station (output: 10MW) in Komekurayama, Kofu City, Yamanashi Prefecture. Yesterday was the first anniversary of Komekurayama Solar Power Station which commenced operation on January 27, 2013.
Since its operational commencement, Komekurayama Solar Power Station has been generating power steadily and the annual total of generated power* has reached approx. 14,400MW which is 1.2 times more than initially estimated. The amount of CO2 emission reduction has turned out to be approx. 6,100 tons.
At the same timing as the operational commencement of Komekurayama Solar Power Station, a PR facility "Yume Solar Kan Yamanashi" was opened. More than 20,000 visitors including students (through elementary school to college), residents of Yamanashi Prefecture, tourists from other prefectures, administrators, etc. have visited the facility, demonstrating a high level of social interest.
Yamanashi Prefecture will continue efforts in introducing and promoting renewable energy such as solar power by fully leveraging its geographical characteristics.
TEPCO will continue our efforts in securing stable power supply while ensuring the safe operation of Komekurayama Solar Power Station.
*Generated power: Power consumption by control equipment, power conditioner air-conditioning equipment, etc. and the power loss at cables in the power station are subtracted from the actual amount of generated power.
