Notice of Briefing Session on Smart Meter Bidding (Mainly for 30A)
Nuclear Damage Liability Facilitation Fund (hereinafter referred to as Fund) and Tokyo Electric Power Company, Incorporated (hereinafter referred to as TEPCO) which have been considering the use of smart meters as a means of reducing peak electricity demand, decided to procure smart meters for fiscal 2014 through competitive bidding. Suppliers seeking to take part in this bidding process are invited to attend the briefing session described below. Please register during the application period described in 2 since there are certain preparations that must be made.

1. Briefing session date and time

2. Application period
- February 12(Wednesday), 2014 to February 17(Monday), 2014
3. Eligible attendees at the briefing session
- Suppliers seeking to take part in the competitive bidding described under "5.Item to be procured" and "6. Bidding period" are invited to the briefing.
4. How to apply for the briefing session

*The number of participants allowed to attend the briefing is 3 people per company.
*Potential bidders must have specifications, etc provided by TEPCO and pass type approval inspection by TEPCO before the date of bidding. (Bidders need a notice of acceptance from TEPCO's materials & procurement department.)
5. Item to be procured
- Smart meters (TEPCO Specification "Electronic Enhanced Weather Resistant Ordinary Watt-hour Meter") 30A models, and 60A and 120A models with some communication systems to be procured from May 2014 through March 2015
- Communication equipment shall be mounted to smart meter. Combination of communication equipments (Route A and Route B) is as follows:
*30A: Combination of 3 methods of Route A (wireless multi-hop, mobile phone network, PLC) and 2 methods of Route B (920MHz radio (Wi-SUN), PLC (G3)).*Briefings on 30A models (bidding will be conducted in early March, 2014) will be separately announced.
6. Bidding period
- Bidding period will be presented at the briefing session. (Scheduled for mid-March)
