Distribution Systems

TEPCO can offer educational programs on distribution engineering based on its own programs for TEPCO's distribution engineers. The educational programs would be flexibly made according to client's needs and its educational level. 

TEPCO has taken measures against faults caused by natural factors and equipments defects, represented by discharge clamp to prevent break of insulated wires by lightning as well as quality management system for distribution equipments. These measures result in System Average Interruption Duration Index (SAIDI) of 2 minutes in TEPCO (as of FY2005). Through its experiences and know-how, TEPCO can provide consultancy services on prevention of these forced faults aiming at reduction of outage duration.

By introducing Automated Distribution System, quicker restoration from accident is made possible. and quality of service is improved to many of the affected customers.
It not only reduces labor work of operating switchgears at site, but enables to make the utmost use of distribution lines with enough capacity much easier.

Planned Outage Reduction Measures
For system reliability improvement, planned outage duration due to distribution network construction should be reduced. As stated above, if a switch-over of the distribution network grid can be realized by distribution system improvement, planned outage can be avoided. Moreover, TEPCO has adopted the "live line work method", "non-outage work method by by-passing switch and cable" and "temporary transformer for construction work method" for planned outage avoidance. By using these methods, we have realized to reduce planned outage duration, and have therefore, improved our system reliabilities.
