Regarding a Nihon Keizai Shimbun article on the front page of the November 8, 2013 edition, "TEPCO Eyes Switch to Holding Company in FY2016"

The Nihon Keizai Shimbun released an article stating "TEPCO has started to consider an organizational transition involving the FY2016 establishment of a holding company, under which 3 subsidiary companies for fuel and thermal power, power transmission and distribution, and retail sales will operate, and is planning to close all of their 10 branch offices within its service area and secure around 1,000 people for contaminated water related and other relevant tasks" on the front page of its November 8, 2013 morning edition. The facts regarding this issue are as follows.

TEPCO has been making efforts in management reform eying on future introduction of the holding company system, and actually introduced the In-house Company System in April this year. As a matter of fact, however, the company has never made a concrete decision on introduction of the holding company system until the present.

Further, although we have been engaged in through operational streamlining efforts including improvement of administrative and back-office efficiency, the fact is that we have never made decision on the branch office closure until the present.
