At around 6:57 PM today (March 18), there was an incident where the power supply facilities in the Main Anti-earthquake Building at Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station momentarily stopped.
Upon investigation, it was found that part of the power supply facilities at Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station have stopped due to the incident and the following facilities are currently being suspended.
(The facilities confirmed to be suspended as of 9:38 PM on March 18)
- Cesium adsorption apparatus (Kurion) of the water treatment facility
- Unit 1 spent fuel pool alternative cooling system* (Secondary system)
- Unit 3 spent fuel pool alternative cooling system (Primary and secondary systems)
- Unit 4 spent fuel pool alternative cooling system (Primary and secondary systems)
Since it takes a certain amount of time for the spent fuel pool water temperature to increase, the temperature will not immediately reach the maximum allowed temperature (65℃).
* The primary system of Unit 1 spent fuel pool alternative cooling system was manually stopped at 9:10 PM for the purpose of protecting the pumps of the system.
No problem has been found with the following facilities at Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station.
- Units 1-3 reactor water injection systems
- Monitoring post data
- Units 1-3 PCV gas control systems (being monitored)
- Unit 2 spent fuel pool alternative cooling system
We are currently investigating the impact of this incident on other facilities.
