Postponement of Report on the Seismic Capacity Evaluation of the Switchyards etc. for Ensuring Reliability of the Offsite Power Supply of our Nuclear Power Stations to the Nuclear Regulation Authority

On June 7, 2011, we received a directive document*1 "Anti-earthquake Countermeasures for the Switchyards etc. for Ensuring Reliability of the Office Power Supply of Nuclear Power Stations (Direction)" from the Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency (NISA) of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. In accordance with the direction given, we submitted a report on the status of the evaluation regarding the possibility of collapse and damage etc. to the electric facilities such as switchyards at our nuclear power stations to NISA on July 7, 2011.

On January 19, 2012, we received a directive document*2 "Anti-earthquake Countermeasures for the Switchyards etc. for Ensuring Reliability of the Office Power Supply of Nuclear Power Stations (Additional Direction)" from NISA. Based on the direction, we have developed an implementation plan of seismic capacity evaluation of the switchyards, etc. at our nuclear power stations and submitted it to NISA on February 17, 2012.

In accordance with the implementation plan developed, we have performed seismic capacity evaluation of the switchyards, etc. and submitted a quarterly report on the evaluation progress to the Nuclear Regulation Authority.

Though we are prepared to submit another quarterly report, the report date has been postponed since new safety standards for nuclear power stations are currently being discussed at the Nuclear Regulation Authority.
