Operation Suspended at Unit 2 of Kashima Thermal Power Station

The operation of Unit 2 at Kashima Thermal Power Station (Station Chief: Hisohisa Ishii, Address: 9 Touwada, Kamisu City, Ibaraki Prefecture, Rated output: 600MW, Fuel: oil, Operation commencement: September 1971) was stopped at 2:57 PM on November 20 since lubricant oil was found to be bleeding at the upper bearing of the air preheater while the unit was in operation at the rated output. The upper bearing of the air preheater will be inspected to identify the cause and the area of concern will be repaired.

Today's power supply capacity is 42,860MW, with which reserve margin of 9.6% can be secured.

* Air preheater: Equipment used to improve thermal efficiency by heating the combustion air utilizing the residual heat of exhaust gas.
