At around 9:25 AM on November 2, 2012, an alarm indicating a power system abnormality ("Common M/C*11A generating line ground fault" and "Common M/C2A generating line ground fault") went off. At around 10:00 AM, it was found that the power cable connecting Common M/C1A and Common M/C2A was damaged during operation as a result of site investigation.
Since smoke was coming out from the damaged portion of the cable, the incident was reported to the fire department at 10:25 AM. As the power supply to the damaged cable was stopped at 10:49 AM, the smoke stopped coming out at 10:51 AM. There was no injury due to the incident.

As a result of site investigation, the fire department judged that the incident was not a fire at 1:37 PM.
Though the power receiving at Common M/C1A had been suspended since 10:49 AM in order to stop power supply to the damaged cable, power receiving has been restarted and the related equipments*2 have been turned back on sequentially during the period from 11:00 to 11:23 AM. No problem was found with the operation of the equipments after being restarted.
At 11:38 AM, it has been confirmed that no problem was found with Units 1-4 plant facilities, accumulated water transfer facility, water treatment facility, common pool facility and Units 5-6 plant facilities.
The cause of this matter is to be investigated. No significant change has been found with the monitoring post data and the plant conditions due to this incident.

*2 The nitrogen gas separator A (which receive power from Common M/C1A) and the nitrogen injection into Unit 1 PCV and Unit 1 suppression chamber were temporarily suspended as the power receiving at Common M/C1A was stopped.
