We deeply apologize to the people of Fukushima and broader society for the tremendous inconvenience and anxiety caused by the accident at Fukushima Daiichi and Daini Nuclear Power Stations (hereafter "the accident").
We are currently in the process of providing swift and accurate compensation payouts to those afflicted by the accident based on the Nuclear Damage Compensation System including the Nuclear Damage Liability Facilitation Fund Law. The following will be added to the areas subject to compensation for damages such as decreased sales (which are considered to be related to the accident) to the tourism industries caused by harmful rumors.
1. Newly added areas
Business entities or private business owners who operate business in the tourism industries (and have the place of business) in Aomori Prefecture, Iwate Prefecture, Miyagi Prefecture, Akita Prefecture or Yamagata Prefecture (hereafter "the five prefectures in Tohoku area"), and experienced a decrease in sales due to such as reservation cancellations and fewer reservations by tourists from areas other than Tohoku area (which are considered to be due to the accident).
2. Compensation period
Compensation will cover damages incurred during the period from March 11, 2011 to February 29, 2012.
3. Compensation amount calculation
The amount of compensation will be calculated by the following method.
[Lost profit calculation]
Sales amount x Profit margins x (Sales decrease rate-Sales decrease rate related to factors other than the accident) x Ratio of tourists visiting the five prefectures in Tohoku area
As for the sales decrease rate related to factors other than the accident, either 1 or 2 below can be selected by those afflicted by damage. The ratio of tourists visiting the five prefectures in Tohoku area will be 50% in both cases.
