Report on the Measures against Water Leakage from the Accumulated Water Transfer Pipeline in Unit 4 Turbine Building at Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station to the Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency (NISA) of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (No.1)

We received a directive document* "Measures against water leakage from the accumulated water transfer pipe in Unit 4 Turbine Building at TEPCO Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station (Direction)" from NISA. (Previously announced on August 17, 2012)

According to the direction given, we have reported to NISA on item 3 and 4 (for which the report due date is August 27, 2012).

As for item 3, our plan of replacing the anti-pressure hose currently used for the contaminated water transfer pipelines with polyethylene pipe has been clarified.

The updated "Implementation Plan on Reliability Improvement Measures at Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station" (Revised on July 24) will be submitted along with our report on item 2 after completing the overall risk evaluation (including the risk related to the replacement of contaminated water transfer pipelines with polyethylene pipe) to be conducted for the purpose of ensuring safety and improving reliability.

We will report to NISA on item 1 and 2 by September 13, 2012.
