Due to the Tohoku-Chihou-Taiheiyou-Oki Earthquake which occurred on March 11, 2011, TEPCO's facilities including our nuclear power stations have been severely damaged. We deeply apologize for the anxiety and inconvenience caused.
With regard to the accident at Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station, on April 17, 2011, we have compiled the roadmap towards restoration from the accident and on July 19 we accomplished the Step1 target "Radiation dose is in steady decline". Then on December 16 we confirmed the accomplishment of the Step 2 target "Release of radioactive materials is under control and radiation doses are being significantly held down".
In addition, on December 21, 2011, we have compiled the "Mid-to-long-Term Roadmap toward the Decommissioning of Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Units 1-4, TEPCO".
In addition to the maintenance of the plant's stable condition, we will implement Mid-to-Long Term countermeasures towards the decommissioning of Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Units 1-4 to enable evacuees to return to their homes as soon as possible and reduce the anxiety of the people in Fukushima and the whole nation as soon as possible.

Below is the status of TEPCO's nuclear power stations (Fukushima Daiichi and Fukushima Daini).

[Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station]
・Unit 1 to 4: Abolishment (April 19, 2012)
・Unit 5 to 6: Outage due to regular inspections before the earthquake

-At 2:54 PM on July 27, we confirmed that there was no flow indication of Unit 1-3 nitrogen supply equipment (nitrogen gas separation apparatus A). Since we conducted the on-site investigation at 3:20 PM, we confirmed that this equipment was stopped. We confirmed the message "problem on compressor" and "severe problem on inverter" on site accordingly. Since we could have reset the alarm gone off and could have restarted the system, we assumed that it was unlikely to be a breakdown of inverter and was likely to be a malfunction of inverter. As a result of the evaluation by a diagnostic equipment, we judged that we could implement a test run. At 8:02 AM on August 2, we started the nitrogen gas separation apparatus A. We started nitrogen supply at 8:23 AM, and started the operational status confirmation. When we manually stopped the diagnostic equipment on 9:13 AM, we suspended the operational status confirmation due to the inverter stopping. Since the malfunction of inverter was not the cause, we restarted the nitrogen gas separation apparatus A on 12:10 PM. At 12:27 PM, we started nitrogen supply, and we restarted the operational status confirmation accordingly. At 2:03 PM, we confirmed that an alarm went off at the Main Anti-Earthquake Building, and we confirmed the site at 2:25 PM. Since we confirmed the apparatus stopping, we stopped the operational status confirmation. We confirmed the message "problem on compressor" and "severe problem on inverter" on site accordingly. We will conduct the operational status confirmation after tomorrow in order to investigate the cause of this event. For reference, nitrogen injection to Unit 1-3 PCV was under operation without problem by the nitrogen gas separation apparatus B.

-At 10:00 AM on August 1, we started transferring the accumulated water in Unit 6 Turbine Building basement to the temporary tank. We finished transferring at 4:00 PM.

・Unit 1 to 4: Shutdown due to the earthquake.

-The monitoring posts (No.1-7) located at the power station site boundary has been under regular inspection since July 10. The inspection is conducted on one post at a time, meanwhile other six posts are used for measurement and confirmation.
