Due to the Tohoku-Chihou-Taiheiyou-Oki Earthquake which occurred on March 11, 2011, TEPCO's facilities including our nuclear power stations have been severely damaged. We deeply apologize for the anxiety and inconvenience caused.
With regard to the accident at Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station, on April 17, 2011, we have compiled the roadmap towards restoration from the accident and on July 19 we accomplished the Step1 target "Radiation dose is in steady decline". Then on December 16 we confirmed the accomplishment of the Step 2 target "Release of radioactive materials is under control and radiation doses are being significantly held down".
In addition, on December 21, 2011, we have compiled the "Mid-to-long-Term Roadmap toward the Decommissioning of Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Units 1-4, TEPCO".
In addition to the maintenance of the plant's stable condition, we will implement Mid-to-Long Term countermeasures towards the decommissioning of Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Units 1-4 to enable evacuees to return to their homes as soon as possible and reduce the anxiety of the people in Fukushima and the whole nation as soon as possible.
Below is the status of TEPCO's nuclear power stations (Fukushima Daiichi and Fukushima Daini).
* The updates are underlined.
[Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station]
・ Unit 1 to 4: Abolishment (April 19, 2012)
・ Unit 5 to 6: Outage due to regular inspections before the earthquake
- On March 14, in order to prevent diffusion of marine soil in the port, we started the construction that covers the marine soil with solidified mud (armoring units) in earnest. We completed the solidified mud placing at all areas on July 18. Since we confirmed the covering as planned, we completed the construction that covers the marine soil.
- At 7:23 AM on July 18, the second cesium absorption apparatus was stopped for a control panel modification of the desalination system (reverse osmosis membrane). (The desalination system (reverse osmosis membrane) was stopped at 3:25 PM on July 17.) As the work was completed, the desalination system (reverse osmosis membrane) was restarted at 4:13 PM on July 18, and the second cesium absorption apparatus was restarted at 4:35 PM.
- At 8:32 AM on July 19, we started transferring the accumulating water from Unit 2 Turbine Building basement to the Central Radioactive Waste Treatment Facility (Miscellaneous Solid Waste Volume Reduction Treatment Building [High Temperature Incinerator Building]).
- Since the Unit 4 spent fuel pool alternative cooling system automatically stopped on June 30 due to the problem in the UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply), we suspended Unit 1 system as same as Unit 4 at 10:47 AM on July 19 for inspection of the UPS of the Unit 1 system. (Spent fuel pool water temperature at the time of stopping: approx. 27.5 ℃) As the inspection of the UPS was completed, we restarted the system at 12:53 PM on the same day. (Spent fuel pool water temperature at the time of starting: approx. 28.0 ℃)
[ Fukushima Daini Nuclear Power Station ]
・ Unit 1 to 4: Shutdown due to the earthquake.
- The monitoring posts (No.1-7) located at the power station site boundary has been under regular inspection since July 10. The inspection is conducted on one post at a time, meanwhile other six posts are used for measurement and confirmation.
Inspection for No. 1: From 9:31 AM to 3:00 PM on July 10
Inspection for No. 2: From 9:31 AM to 3:00 PM on July 11
Inspection for No. 3: From 9:31 AM to 3:00 PM on July 12
Inspection for No. 4: From 9:31 AM to 3:00 PM on July 13
Inspection for No. 5: From 9:31 AM to 3:00 PM on July 18
Inspection for No. 6: From 9:31 AM to 3:00 PM on July 19
