On January 13, 2012, we submitted an application to NISA that will allow
us to amend the Safety Regulations at the Nuclear Reactor Facilities* of
Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant. The purpose was to implement
change in the organizational structure of Daiichi Stabilization Centre in
order to manage medium-and-long term tasks, and implement revisions in
accordance with the actual operations at Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power
Station.
A summary of the application of the amendment of the Safety Regulations
for the Nuclear Reactor Facilities are as follows.
·Tasks for Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station have been shifted to
medium-and-long term tasks towards decommissioning such as the removal
of fuel along with maintaining a continuous cold shutdown.
Organizational changes were implemented in order to proceed with the
tasks as planned, and changes were made to the organizations and duties
stated in Articles 4, 5, 123 and 124 and the subjects of related
articles in Chapter 12.
·In consideration of actual operating conditions at Fukushima Daiichi
Nuclear Power Station, we revised the related articles in Chapter 12.

Subsequently, since we clarified description of modification proposal of
Safety Regulations at the Nuclear Reactor Facilities of Fukushima Daiichi
Nuclear Power Plant that we submitted this time, we submitted revision of
application to amend the nuclear reactor facility safety regulations for
Nuclear Reactor Facilities at Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant to
NISA.

After the review by the government, we received the approval for the
amendment application for the safety regulations for nuclear reactor
facilities of Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station by The Minister of
Economy, Trade and Industry today.

Per Article 37 Clause 1 of the Law on the Regulation of Nuclear Sources,
Materials, Nuclear Fuel Material and Reactors, this sets forth the basic
stipulations for nuclear operators to safely operate nuclear power
stations (operations management, fuel management, radiation management,
emergency procedures, etc.) that have been approved by the government.
