On December 12, 2011, we received the directive document* from NISA
"Regarding the revision of safety regulation based upon the evaluation
result of the facility management plan of Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power
Plant, Tokyo Electric Power Company (Direction)*1".
(Previously announced on December 12, 2011)
On December 13, 2011, we submitted the application for the amendment to the
Safety Regulations for Nuclear Reactor Facilities *2 of Fukushima Daiichi
Nuclear Power Plant to NISA, in accordance with the direction.
The application summaries of the amendment to the Safety Regulations for
Nuclear Reactor Facilities are as follows.
○It prescribes the operating and maintenance management of the following
facilities to make sure of the preservation management of the facilities
in conjunction with the circulating injection cooling system, and
prescribes an organization and duties, inspection, record and report etc.
to manage these systems.
(1) The water injection system for RPV and PCV
(2) The function to prevent the hydrogen explosion in PCV
(3) Spent fuel pools etc.
(4) The boric acid water injection system for RPV and PCV
(5) High-level radioactive contaminated water processing equipment,
Retention facilities (tanks etc.), Storage facilities for abolished
sludge, Storage facilities for used cesium adsorption tower and
Associated facilities (transportation pipe, transportation pump etc.)
(6) The buildings of retaining (including the case of accumulating) high-
level radioactive contaminated water
(7) Electric power system

After the review by the government, we received the approval for the
amendment application for the safety regulations for nuclear reactor
facilities of Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station by The Minister of
Economy, Trade and Industry today.

As per Article 37 Clause 1 of the Law on the Regulation of Nuclear Source
Material, Nuclear Fuel Material and Reactors, this sets forth the basic
matters for person who establishes the nuclear reactor to safely operate
the nuclear power station (operation management, fuel management, radiation
management, emergency procedures, etc.) and approved by the government.
