TEPCO decided to provide power supply up to 300 MW from 16:30 pm to 18:30
pm today to the Tohoku Electric Power Company.
In response to the Tohoku Electric Power Company's request via the
Electric Power System Council of Japan (ESCJ) for the additional power
supply, TEPCO decided to provide additional power supply up to 400 MW from
15:30 pm to 21:00 pm to the Tohoku Electric Power Company.
In addition, these operations are to provide total up to 700 MW to the
Tohoku Electric Power Company during above time. However, this operation
will not have any negative impact in the power supply in TEPCO's service
area.

Power interchange conduced between electric power companies in order to
secure the stable power supply as a nation in case of the power supply
failure due to accident or demand-supply gap at the time of sharp demand
increase.
ESCJ takes a role as an agent in coordinating the power interchange. The
electric power company asking for the additional power supply makes
application for ESCJ. ESCJ then coordinate with other electric power
companies who are capable of supplying power.
