Toshio Nishizawa
President
Tokyo Electric Power Company
Today, the government announced that the lift date of the "Restriction on
Electricity Consumption per Article 27 of the Electricity Business Act"
imposed from July 1st will be advanced from September 22nd to September
9th, eleven days ahead of schedule. The lift will apply to all TEPCO
coverage areas. However, for designated areas of distress due to the
earthquake (certain parts of Ibaraki, Tochigi and Chiba prefectures), the
lift will take effect from September 2nd, 2011.
We sincerely apologize to the general public for the tremendous
inconvenience and anxiety that has arisen on account of the significant
damage sustained by our generation facilities due to the March 11th
earthquake. We are very grateful for your understanding and cooperation
in helping us conserve electricity during such a time this summer.
As for large corporations and public institutions subject to the
restriction on electricity consumption, we apologize again for the impact
such regulations have had on your overall operations such as marketing and
manufacturing.
We will continue to exercise our utmost effort to secure stable electricity
supply and demand. Even after the Restriction on Electricity Consumption is
lifted, your continued understanding and cooperation in maintaining
electricity usage within a reasonable range will be greatly appreciated.
