As part of emergency precautions being taken at Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear
Power Station, We have been evaluating the internal exposure dose of each
worker* who participated in the emergency work at Fukushima Daiichi
Nuclear Power Station. On June 10, 2011, we confirmed that the exposure
dose of two TEPCO male employees exceeded 250 mSv, the limit during
emergency.
Also, as we confirmed that one more TEPCO male employee's level of
internal radioactivity (iodine 131) present in thyroid was high, we asked
the National Institute of Radiological Sciences (NIRS: Independent
Administrative Corporation) to evaluate the exposed dose additionally.
(announced on June 10, 2011)
On June 18, we received the evaluation report. Based on this report, we
evaluated the internal exposure dose and fixed the level. As a result, we
confirmed that the additional TEPCO employee also exceeded 250 mSv, the
limit during emergency.
The employee had a medical check and confirmed that these was no impact on
health
<Exposure dose of the additional employee>
352.08 mSv (internal exposure 110.27 mSv, external exposure: 241.81 mSv)
Note: the above does not include dose during stay at the main
anti-earthquake building and during transfer. We will add these after
evaluation and fix the total.
Moreover, on June 18, we received notification from the Japan Atomic
Energy Agency that one TEPCO male employee's level of internal
radioactivity (iodine 131) present in thyroid was high in comparison with
his work duration. This employee had a medical check on that day and
confirmed that these was no impact on health
The said employee will have a medical check by NIRS. We will receive
advice from NIRS, evaluate the internal exposure dose in detail and
confirm the exposure dose.
* Determining exposure dose
Work to evaluate and add the exposure dose during the work and the stay in
the main anti earthquake building in addition to the committed dose
(exposure spanning a 50-year period from this juncture) of the internal
exposure.
