Due to the tight supply-demand balance of electricity in March 2011, we
implemented planned blackouts. We sincerely apologize for the distress
and inconvenience to customers and broader society.
Since then, as a result of understanding and cooperation from each
customer in conserving electricity, we have been maintaining a "zero
planned blackout policy" in principle.
From July 1, we will start posting "Electricity Forecast" on our PC and
cell-phone websites in order to announce daily supply and demand of
electricity to everyone in the broader society in an easily understood
manner.
On the web pages, we will offer new real-time information such as actual
power consumption in every five minute and hourly demand forecast of the
day as well as demand forecast of the next day. We hope everyone will
make the most use of such information to cooperate with conserving
electricity on the daily basis. (Appendix 1)
We will develop demand and supply measures to continue a "zero planned
blackout policy" in principle. However, to be prepare for the worst case
that we have little choice but to implement planned blackouts, we will
revise operations of planned blackouts for the summer period to reduce
burden of customers to the greatest possible extent, as previously
announced on May 13. We have put together concrete operations and also
announce them (Appendix 2)
We sincerely regret causing great anxiety and inconvenience to everyone
and request for continuous understanding and cooperation in conserving
electricity.
