Status of the Inspection and Restoration Works Performed after the Niigata-Chuetsu-Oki Earthquake (as of December 9)
We are announcing the status of major inspections and restoration works 
and non conformances at TEPCO's Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Station 
after the Niigata-Chuetsu-Oki Earthquake. 

Inspection/ Restoration Status 

 ◇ Inspection and restoration completed between December 3 to December 
    9, 2010 
    (Completed on the following date) 

   - Unit 3 Turbine inspection (High-pressure turbine and low-pressure 
     turbine (A) (B) (C) detailed inspection and restoration work):
       December 8 

   - Unit 5 Functional test for the entire plant (Inspection after 
     generating power at 100% of the rated output): 
       December 3 

   - Unit 5 Functional test for the entire plant (Inspection after 
     reaching rated thermal output): 
       December 7 

   - Unit 5 Functional test for the entire plant (Functional test for 
     reactor core isolation cooling system (RCIC)): 
       December 8 

 ◇ Inspection and restoration to be commenced between December 10 to 
    December 16, 2010 
    (To be commenced on the following date) 

   - Unit 3 System functional test (Functional test of automatic 
     depressurization system):
       December 10 

 ◇ Work Schedule of Major Inspection and Restoration from December 5, 
    2010 to January 1, 2011

 Based on the "Public Announcement Regarding Nonconformance Found in the 
 Inspection and Restoration Works Performed after the Niigata-Chuetsu-Oki 
 Earthquake," the Tokyo Electric Power Company, Incorporated (TEPCO) 
 provides this announcement containing incidents information reported from 
 December 2 to December 8, 2010.

◇ Other Findings - Information on Nonconformances (those related to: the Chuetsu-Oki Earthquake; Grades GI, GII, GIII; and non-graded) (including nonconformances related to: the Chuetsu-Oki Earthquake; Grades As, A, B, C, D; and non-graded)
Other Findings
* By close reexamination of past nonconformance incidents, 1 of them is identified as not related to the Chuetsu-Oki Earthquake, so the total number of them has been corrected. - We are making every effort to carry on inspections and restoration works at the Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Station after the Niigata-Chuetsu-Oki Earthquake. In addition to this, we will implement the inspection of heating ventilation and air-conditioning system ducts which are placed inside and outside of Unit 2, Unit 3 and Unit 4, in the light of fact that air leakage from outdoor air-conditioning duct (main body) and penetration part of outdoor air-conditioning duct building was found at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station. We will perform the inspection for about 2 months from December 13, 2010.
