The Tokyo Electric Power Company, Incorporated (TEPCO) has established its
"Fiscal 2010 Business Management Plan."
In FY 2009, TEPCO restarted the commercial operation of Units 6 and 7 of
the Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Station and has tackled urgent cost
reduction. As a result, we expect that, in FY 2009, TEPCO will move into
the black for the first time in recent three years. In the sense, TEPCO
is close to the breakthrough of the crisis after the Chuetsu-Oki
earthquake, but still we have uncertain elements to worry about surrounding
the TEPCO group, such as the delay of recovery from electricity demand,
fluctuations of fuel costs and movements toward the prevention of global
warming, in addition to the risk factors in the restoration process of the
Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Station.
Based on this situation, the Plan the TEPCO group has established this time
includes two parts: one is the effort to be tackled mainly in FY2010 as
mop-up activities for the breakthrough of the crisis the group has been
facing, and the other is the effort to be tackled in next three years of
FY2010 to FY2012 towards the growth and development after the breakthrough
of the crisis, with the consideration of new Management Vision which will
be announced in the near future.
Main points of the Plan are as follows;
