The Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Station Unit No.6 (ABWR: 1,356MW) had been shut
down since the Niigata-Chuetsu-Oki Earthquake occurred on July 16, 2007. On August 25,
2009, we started a series of functional tests for the entire plant, and are performing
the pre-planned tests.
After activating a main turbine generator, we have performed various pre-planned tests
such as temporarily connecting the main generator to the transmission network, and
confirmed these results to be satisfactory by 9:00 a.m. of August 31.
Based on these results of the tests, once we isolated the main generator from the
transmission network and verified the function of protective devices of the main turbine
generator. Subsequently, we connected the main generator to the transmission network
again, we re-started the generation at 1:39 p.m. of August 31.
Currently, we are raising generating power to approx. 20% of the rated output. After
reaching approx. 20% of the rated output, we will keep it and perform the pre-planned
tests carefully.
We will disclose test evaluation results accordingly.
