The Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Station Unit No.6 (ABWR: 1,356MW) had been shut down
since the Niigata-Chuetsu-Oki Earthquake occurred on July 16, 2007. On August 25, 2009,
we started a series of functional tests for the entire plant, and started up the reactor
on August 26.
After the reactor pressure was raised to approx. 3.5MPa, the reactor was once brought down
to subcriticality. Then we performed various pre-planned tests and confirmed these results
to be satisfactory by 4:00 a.m. of August 28.
Based on these results of the tests, we brought the reactor up to criticality and raised
the reactor pressure to rated pressure of approx. 7.0MPa at 5:30 p.m. of August 28.
We will disclose test evaluation results accordingly.
