Status of the Inspection and Restoration Works Performed after the Niigata-Chuetsu-Oki Earthquake (as of October 30th)
We are announcing the status of major inspections and restoration works and nonconformances 
at TEPCO's Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Station after the Niigata-Chuetsu-Oki Earthquake. 

Inspection/Restoration Status

 ○ Inspection and restoration completed between October 24th to October 30th, 2008 
    (Completed on the following date) 

   • Unit No.6 Seismic reinforcement works (Seismic reinforcement works for the roof truss of 
     the reactor building): 
      October 24th 
   • Unit No.6 Seismic reinforcement works (Seismic reinforcement works for exhaust stack): 
      October 29th 
   • Unit No.7 500kV power cable inspection: 
      October 24th 
   • Unit No.7 Seismic reinforcement works (Clearance of seismic reinforcement works equipment 
     and materials for exhaust stack): 
      October 26th 
   • Unit No.7 Seismic reinforcement works (Seismic reinforcement works for reactor building 
     overhead crane): 
      October 27th 

 ○ Inspection and restoration to be commenced between October 31st to November 7th, 2008 
    (To be commenced on the following date) 

   • Unit No.4 Inspection of power supply input transformer of the primary loop recirculation 
     system adjustable speed drive (Transportation into the factory):

   Based on the "Public Announcement Regarding Nonconformance Found in the Inspection 
   and Restoration Works Performed after the Niigata-Chuetsu-Oki Earthquake", the Tokyo 
   Electric Power Company, Incorporated (TEPCO) provides this announcement containing 
   incidents information reported from October 23rd to October 29th, 2008.

○ Other Findings • Unit No.1 and 3 Visual inspection was conducted for stack radiation monitor sampling pipes after removing insulation. As a result of the inspection, damage was found on an intake side pipe of sampling pump of Unit No.3, and a misalignment was found on the joint of discharge side pipes of sampling pump of Unit No.1. These incidents did not lead to any radiological impact to the environment. Subsequently, visual inspection was conducted for stack radiation monitor sampling pipes from October 27th to October 29th, 2008 after removing insulation, and no additional damage was found. Inspection will be continued as well as root cause analysis of damages of Unit No.1 and 3.
