The Tokyo Electric Power Company, Incorporated (TEPCO) has signed a technical
consulting agreement with Abu Dhabi Transmission & Despatch Company (TRANSCO) in
the Emirate of Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), regarding developing
the master plan of Abu Dhabi TRANSCO transmission system up to the year 2018.
Rapid power demand increase is expected in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi according to
economic growth in recent years. Specifically, around Abu Dhabi Island, the economic
center of the Emirate, development of a large-scale urban area is planned. TRANSCO
is planning to supply power to the area with an extra high voltage (EHV) power cable
network.
Development of a highly reliable power network for the area is required. TRANSCO, a
subsidiary company of the Abu Dhabi government for water and power transmission, has
requested technical consulting from TEPCO based on our technical experience of planning
and operating power systems with a huge amount of EHV cables.
The scope of work covers the development of the master plan considering installation of
EHV cables, the study on the impact of its installation, and cable route survey. TEPCO
will propose the optimum plan for the EHV power systems in terms of supply reliability
and cost. TEPCO will also assess the technical feasibility of the new EHV underground
cables to be installed. TEPCO will dispatch experts in power system planning and power
system operation in order to transfer technology and knowledge from July 2008 to September
2009. TEPCO hopes this consulting service will contribute to a stable and high-quality
power supply in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
TEPCO is continuously promoting overseas businesses such as consulting services and
investment with our technical expertise, knowledge and know-how for growth and development.
TEPCO continues to promote our business abroad to make further contributions to the world.
