Status of the Inspection and Restoration Works Performed after the Niigata-Chuetsu-Oki Earthquake (as of June 19th)
We are announcing the status of major inspections and restoration works and 
nonconformances at TEPCO's Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Station after 
the Niigata-Chuetsu-Oki Earthquake.  

Inspection/Restoration Status

 ○ Inspection and restoration completed between June 13th to June 19th, 2008  
    (Completed on the following date) 

   • Unit No.1 Excitation transformers inspection (transportation into the factory): 
      June 17th 
   • Unit No.3 Stack inspection (inspection for substructure of piles): 
      June 10th*
   • Unit No.6 Stack inspection (detailed inspection for top of stack): 
      June 16th 
   • Inspection of spent fuel transportation cask: 
      June 13th

 ○ Inspection and restoration to be commenced between June 20th to June 26th, 2008  
    (To be commenced on the following date)  

   • Unit No.2 Core shroud inspection: 
      June 24th 
   • Unit No.3 Turbine inspection (detailed inspection for high-pressure turbine and 
     low-pressure turbine (A)):

  Based on the "Public Announcement Regarding Nonconformance Found in the Inspection 
  and Restoration Works Performed after the Niigata-Chuetsu-Oki Earthquake", the Tokyo 
  Electric Power Company, Incorporated (TEPCO) provides this announcement containing 
  incidents information reported from June 12th to June 18th, 2008.

○ Other Findings • Unit No.7 Leak-rate test of the containment vessel was conducted from June 11th to June 12th to confirm its leak-tightness. The test showed no abnormality. • Unit No.6 Visual inspection was conducted for forks of 252 rotor blades on the 15th stage and 260 rotor blades on the 16th stage of the low-pressure turbine (B) (15th stage: 126 blades each on generator-side and turbine-side; 16th stage: 130 blades each on generator-side and turbine-side). As a result, no damage was found. Additionally, non-destructive investigation resulted in an indication on the fork of a rotor blade on the turbine-side of 16th stage. Indication was not found on generator-side and turbine-side of 15th stage and the generator-side of 16th stage. • Unit No.7 Visual inspection was conducted for forks of 260 rotor blades on the 16th stage of the low-pressure turbine (C) (130 blades each on generator-side and turbine-side). As a result, no damage was found. Additionally, non-destructive investigation resulted in indications on the forks of 31 rotor blades on the generator-side and 9 rotor blades on the turbine-side.
