2. Nonconformances Found in the Inspection and Restoration Works Performed after
the Niigata-Chuetsu-Oki Earthquake
Based on the "Public Announcement Regarding Nonconformance Found in the Inspection
and Restoration Works Performed after the Niigata-Chuetsu-Oki Earthquake", the Tokyo
Electric Power Company, Incorporated (TEPCO) provides this announcement containing
incidents information reported from October 18th to October 24th, 2007 and the
occurrence status of nonconformances (that have been deliberated) reported from
October 11th to October 23rd, 2007.

○ Other Findings
Unit No.7
We have completed removing fuel assemblies on Oct. 23rd.
Unit No.7
At 11:37p.m. on Oct.24th, we could extract the control rod which had not been
able to extract (announced on Oct.18th, 2007). The rod was extracted through
the ordinary way that was ruled in advance. We will conduct the research why
the rod could not be extracted the first time we tried.
As a part of investigation on water ingress into the unit No.7 reactor well
liner drain pipe, we are conducting a status check for all large-size tanks
that contain radioactivity including spent fuel pools for all units. As of
today, no leakage from reactor well liners etc. has been confirmed except
for unit No.7. However, since water ingress into the unit No.7 liner drain
pipe continues and water spillage due to sloshing in the spent fuel pool
induced by the seismic motion occurred in the refueling floor of all units,
there is a possibility of water ooze happening in other walls. Hence, we will
continue monitoring for any leakage by way of plant walk-down, etc.
In unit No.1, water ooze containing a minute amount of radioactive material
was found in the spent fuel pool wall located below the reactor building
refueling floor. We will continue monitoring.
