Press Release (Aug 22,2007)
Demand Reduction Based on Load Management Contracts and Call for More Energy Conservation
The Tokyo Electric Power Company, Inc. (TEPCO) expects to face
significant difficulty in keeping electricity supply in balance
with increasing demand in our service area* today, mainly due to
the severe hot weather leading to increased electricity usage
such as those for air-conditioners.

TEPCO has been making every effort to meet electricity demand by
securing stable supply of electricity through increased output
of our hydro and thermal power units and purchase of electricity
from other utilities and self-generators. However, in consideration
of the severe electricity supply-and-demand balance situation
that we are facing today, we have asked some of our customers who
have load management contracts with TEPCO to reduce electricity
usage.

In order to prevent power outage from happening, we kindly ask
all of ourcustomers to reduce electricity usage. We apologize
for the inconvenience during such a severe heat wave.
