We are announcing the status of nonconformance management related to the 2007
Niigata-Chuetsu-Oki Earthquake totaling 1,263 nonconformances confirmed by
July 26.
Of the 1,263 nonconformances, those rated as As, A, or B have basically been
announced already.

In the report, events were classified as follows.
As: Fire of Unit 3 house transformer 3B. (reported on July 19)
Leak of water containing radioactivity into the uncontrolled areas on the
third floor and third floor mezzanine level of the Unit 6 reactor building.

A: Detection of iodine and radioactive particulates (chromium-51 and cobalt-60)
in periodic measurements of releases from the Unit 7 main exhaust stack.

B: Subsidence and displacement of the Unit 2 transformer oil retaining wall.

C: Falling of lockers in the locker room of the administration building.
D: Partial damage to the shutter of the access door for large equipments on the
first floor of the turbine building.
* Definition of Nonconformance:
A nonconformance is a state or an action (judgment) deviating from the normal
state or action (judgment). In a power plant, nonconformances include a wide
range of events from troubles with legal reporting obligations to minor breakdown
of instrumentation and lighting troubles found during normal plant inspections.
*Note that nonconformance control grades differ from seismic design classes.
