Based on written instructions* received from the Ministry of Economy,
Trade and Industry on July 20, 2007, The Tokyo Electric Power Company,
Inc. (TEPCO) has examined "enhancement of the in-house fire-fighting
system" and "establishment of a rapid and accurate accident reporting
system" in its nuclear power stations.
TEPCO hereby announces that it has set forth an improvement program
addressing these matters and submitted it to the Ministry of Economy,
Trade and Industry today.
TEPCO intends to announce the results of its examination of "confirmation
of seismic safety giving first priority to public safety" one month from
the date of its receipt of the Ministry's instructions.
TEPCO will make every effort to systematically and steadily implement
the improvements and ensure safety at its power stations.
