Tokyo --- Tokyo Electric Power Co. (TEPCO) today submitted an interim
report to the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry concerning the
problem of leak tests on the primary containment vessel at Fukushima
Daiichi Nuclear Power Station Unit-1.
TEPCO was originally planning to issue the interim report in early November
and had asked an outside investigation team to review the case. However,
the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry instructed, under Article 106
of the Electricity Utilities Industry Law, that TEPCO report the current
status of the investigation immediately. Thus TEPCO reported today on what
the outside investigation team has reported.
TEPCO has decided to voluntarily halt Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power
Station's Unit-1 as soon as possible in order to conduct another leak test.
TEPCO will start reducing the output at 6:00 pm on October 25.
Attached are the preliminary findings of the Outside Investigation Team.
