Report on the Inappropriate APD Usage during Restoration Work at Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station and Recurrence Prevention Measures

Regarding the usage of APD shielded with lead cover during restoration work at Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station, we instructed our main contractor, Tokyo Energy & Systems Inc. to investigate the facts after the issue was reported by them on July 19. The details of the matter have been gathered by interviewing the employees who were involved. (Previously announced)

On August 8, Tokyo Energy & Systems Inc. has reported to us on the inappropriate APD usage (covering the APD surface with lead cover) during restoration work at Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station.

Past cases deemed as inappropriate radiation control have also been revealed such as workers losing their APD and restoration work being done without APD.

As this matter was taken very seriously, we have investigated on the actual condition of our radiation control and come up with recurrence prevention measures to achieve adequate radiation control.

We will make every effort for thorough implementation of radiation control rules among all employees including those of cooperative companies.
