Concerning the headlining article in the December 3, 2011 edition of THE MAINICHI NEWSPAPERS, "Abandon nuclear reprocessing was pointed in FEPC, TEPCO executives and senior METI officials".
December 3, 2011
Tokyo Electric Power Company

THE MAINICHI NEWSPAPERS published an article on December 3 asserting that the "Abandon nuclear reprocessing was pointed in FEPC, TEPCO executives and senior METI officials". However, we at TEPCO assert that such an announcement was never released and that there are no facts substantiating this agreement.

It is true that various internal discussions concerning the reprocessing business or among related parties from the viewpoint of energy security and its costs etc did take place, and we can not answer about the argument contents in FEPC.

However, there are no facts substantiating that discussions concerning the abandon nuclear reprocessing or that an agreement to such an end was ever reached.

Our stance that the nuclear fuel cycle including reprocessing is important to the stable supply of energy and the effective use of energy resources has not changed.
