EXPO 2005 Aichi, JAPAN
The Federation of Electric Power Companies of Japan (FEPC) represents ten electric power companies including Tokyo Electric Power Company.
FEPC is exhibiting the "Wonder Circus-Electric Power Pavilion" at the EXPO 2005 Aichi, Japan. We have visited the Nagakute Area at the EXPO 2005 site, where construction is rapidly progressing and new transportation systems are at their trial stages.
The EXPO 2005 Aichi will be held at two areas Nagakute and Seto, located
eastern hills of Nagoya. Passage between the two areas is by the uses of the
ropeway gondola and shuttle buses.
Gondola & Global Loop
Nagakute Area is comprised of rolling hills with elevation difference of approximately 40 meters. For this reason, a promenade called the "Global Loop" was built as the main visitor route. The "Global Loop" allows visitors to leisurely navigate through the area, barrier-free. Also, Nagakute Area has approximately 158 hectares of natural forest as the Forest Experience Zone. The Gondola could be used to move across this vast area north and south.
New traffic systems will appear for the first time there.
The fuel-cell hybrid buses will be used between areas and an unmanned transportation
system called the Intelligent Multi-mode Transport System (IMTS) will be used
within Nagakute area.
Japan's first maglev train service is scheduled to operate between Yakusa
and Fujigaoka Stations to Nagakute Station located next to the EXPO 2005 site.
